On-going Support
Trauma sessions is not about how long but more about what we address and how deep we can go within one session. The assessment can take up to 60 minutes and the actual session approximately one and half hours to 2 hours. Once we have started with an incident, we have to finish the process.
TIR works by helping you confront and process traumatic incidents in a safe and controlled environment. This process can help to alleviate negative thoughts and emotions associated with the trauma.
Trauma work is a process so you will have to set aside one week or more depending on the assessment. The minimum is to meet every second day of the week to work on the trauma.
You have to take care of yourself, trauma work is both physically and emotionally draining so it is important that you eat and sleep well, you may not be under the influence of any mood- or mind-altering substances. If you do not adhere to all of these requirements the session may produce undesirable results.
Trauma Therapy is for you if you have been through an experience that has been emotionally or physically distressing for you, despite how others perceived it. We experience trauma in different ways, and we should be able to identify where the trauma is coming from. Sometimes it's covered layers deep and only gets revealed during assessment.
The cost of the sessions is R650 for 60 minutes. We recommend a minimum of 3 sessions per week and evaluate the progress after the three days to plan for follow up sessions.
Trauma therapy helps you to work through events that have been traumatic for you and have had negative consequences on your well-being. It also teaches us how to integrate past experiences and learn to accept our own journeys in life.
